Button School is committed to providing a welcoming environment for learners of all ages, economic backgrounds, ethnicities, genders and gender-identities, national origins, neurodivergent identities, physical abilities, physical appearances, races, religions, sexual orientations, and trans statuses. This code of conduct serves to guide and support the creation of a respectful, generative, and sustainable community space.
Our community Discord acts as our virtual campus, where learners and other members are encouraged to ask questions, share their work, give and receive feedback, and support each other through all manner of life and work challenges.
Our courses and other events include live sessions hosted on Zoom, which serves as our virtual classroom. Learners and other participants show up here curious and engaged to learn, explore, discuss, and collaborate.
As community members of an educational space, we may not always agree on everything—in fact, fostering a diversity of perspectives is precisely what helps all of us thrive in our goals. We must do so in respectful, mindful, and encouraging ways, which make space for others and do not act to exclude, especially on the basis of our characteristics or identities.
Participants agree to:
- Arrive with an inclusive and curious spirit that is considerate of others, and actively seek to acknowledge and respect the boundaries of fellow participants.
- Take part equitably in group discussions, stepping in and stepping back as appropriate.
- Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech. This includes, but is not limited to: deliberate intimidation or misgendering; stalking; sexual or discriminatory comments or jokes; and unwelcome sexual attention.
- Treat all discussion within the group, as well as work shared by other participants, as confidential.
- Only submit their own creative work, and not take credit for others’. Use of AI tooling—such as large language models and code or image generators—must always be disclosed. These tools should only be used to aid or enhance their own thinking and work, not as a substitute.
Reports of violations should be made to safety@buttonschool.com.
If any participant violates this code of conduct, we reserve the right to take any lawful action we deem appropriate, including but not limited to warning the offender or removing the offender from Button School platforms.
